If a Democrat on the Ethics committee does not leak the report, then I am done with the Democratic Party.

I always appreciate your takes on current events, even these miserable events. I have to admit that seeing on my phone that Marco Rubio was nominated for Secretary of State made me laugh out loud. But nothing since has made me laugh. It seems to me that the reactionary right is just shoving their contempt for the American government in everyone's faces. Unfortunately, being informed is also depressing and unnerving these days.

By far the scariest nomination is Tulsi Gabbard, complete traitor. Gaetz and the Fox News guy are just lightweights who can be steamrolled at Justice and Defense; Tulsi will hand everything over to Putin in a heartbeat.

I'd like to think the GOP senators will stand up. but after the endless series of capitulations over the past nine years, all I can say is hahahahahahaha. I hate it, but there it is.

and even if they do stand up to him, Thune will call a pretextual recess and these disasters will get ferried over the line.

special bonus points to Mike Johnson for his utterly predictable 180 on releasing the Ethics Committee report on Gaetz. Johnson is second to none in his shameless sycophancy.

oh, on another topic, where in the world is JD Vance? Have we heard a peep from him since election night? is he off at the TheoBros fortress of solitude, being programmed?

I have been grappling with not having a good enough way to describe Mike Johnson, but "lickspittle" is the perfect word. From now on it should just be part of his handle. "Lickspittle Mike Johnson announced today . . ." "Rumors are that lickspittle Mike Johnson will . . ." "Speaker and lickspittle Mike Johnson called the House to order . . ." I have a little question as to whether it should always just be capitalized as part of his name or left lower case, but I tilt toward the latter.

One bright spot may be that none of the current candidates is likely to have the faintest idea of how to effectively gum up the internal works of one of these departments. A real danger would be if an internal candidate is elevated, someone who actually knows how to apply the wrecking ball.
